Why does it take 2 copies of 1/8 to show the same amount as 1 copy of 1/4? explain your answer in words

    1/8 + 1/8 = 2/8

    When you simplify 2/8 by dividing the numerator (the number on the top of the fraction) by the denominator (the number on the bottom) by 2, the answer you will get is 1/4.
