    A (b+c) = ab+ac

    distribute invisible - 1

    5x^2+x-3+2x^3-4

    group like terms

    I love this! : 3

    5x^2+x-3 - (-2x^3+4)

    5x^2+x+-3+-1 (-2x^3) + (-1) (4)

    5x^2+x+-3+2x^3+-4

    (2x^3) + (5x^2) + (x) + (-3+-4)

    And we're left with 2x^3+5x^2+x-7
