Emma's grades are 100, 98, 94, 90, and 88. Emma decides not to study for the final because her grades are so high on all of the previous tests. Emma scores 64 on the final. As an outlier, how does 64 affect the mean of Emma's previous scores? Assume all scores are treated equally.

    Average x = 89

    Size n = 6

    Sum Sum = 534

    Solution:

    The Average (Mean) is equal to the Sum of all data divided by the Size of the data set.

    Average = Sum / Size

    = 534 / 6

    = 89
