How do I work this problem: - 5y + 8 = - 3y + 10?

    To do this problem:

    -5y + 8 = - 3y + 10 (add 3y to both sides)

    -2y + 8 = 10 (subtract 8 from both sides)

    -2y = 2 (divide by - 2)

    y = - 1
