Which equation shows the value of - 1.5 - 2.75?

1.5 + 2.75 = 4.25

-1.5 - (-2.75) = 1.25

-1.5 + (-2.75) = - 4.25

1.5 - 2.75 = - 1.25

    So we're trying to find something that would end up having the same value as - 1.5 - 2.75.

    We can easily rule out A, because while we are subtracting negatives in the former equation, we are adding them both here. And then we can rule out B because in the middle, two negative signs make it a positive, and that would make - 1.5 + 2.75, which is not what we're looking for. And then we can also rule out D, because 1.5 isn't a negative here, and in the original, it is a negative.

    And that would make your answer C, because a negative and a positive make a negative, and that would make it - 1.5 - 2.75, which is the exact same thing as the original equation. And they have the same values as well.
