The cost, C dollars, of hiring a taxi is given by the formula C=2.00+3/20n, where n is the number of tenths of a mile driven. What is the cost if the taxi is hired to drive 4.0 miles?

    C (n) = 2.00+3.20n

    If n = 4 miles:

    C (4) = 2+3.20 (4)

    C (4) = 2+12.80

    C (4) = 14.80
