In an election, 500,000 people voted in all. Which number could be the exact number of people who voted in the Election? 429,455 441,688 533,736 550,193. Do you round up?

    Since this is rounding to the hundred thousands place, look at the second number to the right. Any number 5 and above would round up while 4 and below round down.

    429,455 would round down to 400,000 because the second number is 2

    441,688 would also round down to 400,000 since the next number is 4

    550,193 would round up to 600,000 which is too high.

    So that leaves C. 533,736 to round down to 500,000 since the ten thousands place is 3.
