Chris is making a table top from some leftover tiles. He has 9 tiles that measure 3 1/8 inches long and 2 3/4 inches wide. What is the area he can cover with these tiles?

    In order to find the area of the table top we have to multiply L*W

    where L=3 1/8=25/8

    W=2 3/4=11/4

    A=25/8 * 11/4 = (25*11) / (4*8) = 275/32 = 8 19/32 in squared
