A zoo has two new elephants, Asia and Benji. Asia eats 1/2 ton of hay each week. Benji eats 1/4 ton of hay each week. They each eat 10 pounds of green leaves a day. Asia drinks 100 gallons of water each week, and Benji drinks about 80 gallons. Hay costs $200 per ton. The green leaves cost $.50 per pound. I'm disregarding the water part because you haven't listed the price (just for reference there are 9360 gallons of water that the elephants consume per year). It costs $11,450 to feed Asia and Benji for one year.

    1/2 (52) + 1/4 (52) = 39 tons of hay

    39 (200) = $7,800

    10 (365) = 3650

    3650 (2) = 7,300

    7,300 (.5) = $3650

    $7,800 + $3650 = 11,450
