    To answer this question, first find the percentage of eighth graders in the sample who chose football. To do this, take ratio of 16/56=.285 and rounding gives us. 28 or 28%. Now, if we assume that the sample size reflects the attitudes of all the eighth graders in the school, we take 28% of the total number of eighth graders (495). Doing this we get. 28 x 495 = 138.6 or rounding to get 139 students. 139 students are predicted to prefer football.
