The difference between the squares of two numbers is 7. four times the square of the first number increased by the square of the second number is 73. find the numbers.

    Let a = x^2 and b=y^2

    a-b=7

    4a+b=73

    4 (7+b) + b=73 5b=45 b=9

    a=7+b = 7+9 = 16

    Then

    x^2=16, x=+-4

    y^2=9, y=+-3
