From the given: 2nd quarter = 4 million

Let x and y be the amount made in the first and third quarter such that,

    1st quarter: 4 = (x + x/3); x = 3 million

    3rd quarter: 4 = (4/5) y; y = 5 million

Adding together the amounts for the first three quarter is become 12 million.
