The measures of two angles (5X+24) degrees and (9X-17) degrees. What is the value of x if these angles are congruent?

    If they are "congruent" they are equal so:

    9x-17=5x+24 add 17 to both sides

    9x=5x+41 subtract 5x from both sides

    4x=41 divide both sides by 4

    x=10.25 (the angles being 75.25)
