The surface area of two similar figures are 25in2 and 36in2 if the volume of the smaller figure is 250in2 what is the voline of the larger figure.

    Similar shpaes have corresponding sides that are proportionalIf 2 surface areas are in the ratio of 25/36then the linear dimensions are in the ratio of 5/6and the volumes are in the ratio of (25/36) (5/6) or (5/6) ^3 so for this case 250 * (6/5) ^3 = 300 Another way to visualize this is to assume the figure with area of 25 in2 is a square with sides of 5the figure with area of 36 in^2 is a square with sides of 6the volume of the smaller figure is the 5x5 square base times a height of 10the larger figure has a base of 6x6 and a height that is proportionally longer or 10*6/5 = 12 inthe volume is then 6x6x12 = 432 This is one example easy to visualize but the areas do not have to be squares, they could be any arbitrary shape that is similar
