A monomial is a number, a variable or a product of a number and a variable where all exponents are whole numbers. That means that, after expanding the expression we shall have the monials as:

    (2x+1) ^4

    = (4x^2+4x+1) (4x^2+4x+1)

    =16x^4+32^3+8x^2+8x+1

    The monomials are:

    16x^4, 32x^3, 8x^2, 8x,
