    5 days a week, 18 portraits per day, $ 16 per portrait = (5 * 18 * 16) = $ 1440

    5 days a week, x portraits, $ 12 per portrait = $ 1440

    (5 * x * 12) = 1440

    60x = 1440

    x = 1440/60

    x = 24 ... he would need to do an average of 24 per day

    so he would have to increase his portraits by (24 - 18) = 6 per day <=
