The local grocery store is having a sale on watermelon. Mrs. Jackson purchase 10 watermelons for a school picnic. She recevied a discount 50 cents on each watermelon. She pays for $34.90 for the watermelons. What is the original price of each watermelon

    34.9 = 10x-0.5 (10)

    34.9=10x-5

    39.9=10x

    3.99=x

    each watermelon is $3.99

    So first off here we will need to do 34.90/10=3.49 next we need to add. 5 to these because this is the price of the watermelon with the discount on them now with. 5 added to them makes are end answer of $3.99 per watermelon without the discount.
