Denis brought a t - shirt for the sales price of $25. the original cost of the t - shirt was $40. what percent represents the discount that denise recieved when buying the t - shirt?

    Well ... we know that $20 is 1/2 of $40. Also, $5 is 0.125 of $40. Add those together, (0.500 + 0.125 = 0.625) and then subtract that from 1 (1 - 0.625 = 0.375). You are getting 37.5% (3/8) off of the original price.
