An art gallery has 8 new paintings, all the same size, but enough room on the wall for only 6 of them. How many ways can the director arrange the 8 paintings on the wall? A. 48 B. 28 C. 20,160 D. 40,320

    There are 8 choices for the first painting on the wall, 7 choices for the second, and so on, down to three choices for the sixth. Our result is thus 8*7*6*5*4*3=20,160. C is the correct answer.
