    Distribute 2 times b plus 2 times 3

    2b+6

    2b+6+2b=26

    Combine like terms 4b+6=26

    Subtract 6 from both sides

    4b=20

    Divide both sides by 4

    b=5

    Check by substituting 5 for b

    2 (5+3) + 2 (5) = 26

    2 (8) + 2 (5) = 26

    16+10=26

    26=26
