    8y²+7y+4-3 (2y²-5y-8)

    =64y+7y+4-3 (4y-5y-8)

    =71y+1 (4y-5y-8)

    =71y+1 (-y-8)

    =71y+-y-8

    =71y-y-8

    =70y-8

Try this, see if it works.
