    we make x the factor

    (-12) ^3 divided by x = (2/3) ^-1 = 1/2/3 = 3/2

    (-12) ^3 = - 12 x - 12 x - 12 = 1728

    1728x=3/2

    1728x x 2 = 3

    3456x=3

    x=3/3456 = 1/1152
