    a) 420 students

    b) Tom could have asked students that weren't on the football team too. He could have asked more students and from all different areas, not just football.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Set up a proportion to solve for the unknown (x)

    7/20 = x/1200 then cross multiply to solve for x.

    8400=20x then divide by 20 on both sides

    x=420
