    Simply multiply 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 = 7 7/8 gallons of water or 7.875

    In 1 minute 2 1/4 gallons

    In 2 minutes 4 1/2 gallons (2 1/4 x 2)

    In 3 minutes 6 3/4 (2 1/4 x 3)

    In the remaining 1/2 minute it will pour out 1 1/8 gallons (2 1/4 : 2)

Add that to the 6 3/4 and you will also get 7 7/8 gallons
