    So. I would start by looking at an equation (The rec. will stand for reciprocal). 6 (rec. x) = 2 (rec. 3). I would simplify the right side first: 2 (1/3); 2/3. Then I'd move the 6 over. 6 (rec. x) / 6 = (2/3) / 6; rec. x=2/3*1/6; rec. x=2/18; rec. x=1/9. Then I'd apply the reciprocal to each side. x=9 (the reciprocal of the reciprocal of x would just be x). So that means the number is 9.
