Twice the difference of a number and six is the sum of that number and two

    2 (n-6) = n + 2

    2n - 12 = n + 2

    n - 14 = 0

    n = 14

    2 (14-6) = 14 + 2

    28-12 = 16

    16 = 16

    n = 14
