    let t = traveler's normal walking speed

    let w = walkway speed

    Write an equation for each scenario

    t - w = 1

    t + w = 7

    t=1+w

    (1+w) + w=7

    1+2w=7

    w=3 ft/s walkway speed

    t=1+w=4 ft/s travelers speed
