    Y = - 3x+7

    x = - 2y-16

    substitute in one for the other:

    y = - 3 (-2y-16) + 7

    y = 6y + 48 + 7

    y = 6y + 55

    -5y = 55

    y = - 11

    x = - 2y - 16

    x = - 2 (-11) - 16

    x = 6
