Two cross roads, each width 10m cut at right angle through the centre of a rectangular park of length 700m and breadth 300m and parallel to it's sides find the area of the roads. Also find the area of the park excluding cross roads. Give the answer in hectares

    Area of one road = 700 x 10

    7000 sq m

    area of another road

    = 300 x 10 = 3000sq m

    Total area of road

    = 7000 + 3000 - 10 x 10

    = 9900 sq m

    Area of park

    = 700 x 300

    = 210000 sq m

    less area of road

    = 210000 - 9900

    = 200100 sq m

    = 200100 / 10000 hectare

    = 20.01 hectare.
