A baseball is hit off a tee, and the height of the baseball is modeled by the equation h=-16t^2+48t+2 (h is the height in feet, t is time in seconds). Find the maximum height of the baseball.

    Taking the derivative, you get h' = - 32t + 48.

    At the maximum height, h' = 0 giving 32t = 48 or t = 3/2.

    Substituting t = 3/2 into the original equation, we get 38ft.
