A pitcher of lemonade in Manny's refrigerator was full in the morning. In the afternoon, he drank two glasses of lemonade. Each glass holds 8 ounces. That evening, 24 ounces of lemonade remained in the pitcher. What is the total volume of lemonade, in ounces, that the pitcher can hold?

    To find how much lemonade the pitcher can hold, you will add the amounts that he drank and remained to get a total. This total would be the starting amount.

    8 oz + 8 oz + 24 oz = 40 ounces
