Bailey and Elena compete in a swim race. Their times are shown below. Round each time to the nearest whole second. Then estimate how many seconds Bailey won the race by

Bailey: 35.78 seconds

Elena: 39.51 seconds

    The whole second is the first number to the left of the decimal (_.)

    So, 35.78 = 36 because 7>5.

    39.51 = 40 because 5 = 5.

    40 - 36 = 4.

    Bailey won the race by about 4 seconds.
