    Question 1)

    Solving for x

    x-2y=6

    Add 2y to both sides.

    x-2y+2y=6+2y

    x = 2y+6

    Solving for y.

    x-2y=6

    Add - x to both sides.

    x-2y+-x=6+-x

    -2y=-x+6

    Divide both sides by - 2

    -2y / - 2=-x+6 / - 2

    y = 1/2x - 3

    Question 2)

    Solving for x

    2x-4y=10

    Add 4y to both sides.

    2x-4y+4y=10+4y

    2x=4y+10

    Divide both sides by 2.

    2x/2=4y+10/2

    x=2y+5

    Solving for y.

    2x-4y=10

    Add - 2x to both sides

    2x-4y+-2x=10+-2x

    -4y=-2x+10

    Divide both sides by - 4.

    -4y / - 4=-2x+10 / - 4

    y = 1 / 2 x + - 5 / 2
