    You are a candle.

The "life" of a candle is measured by how long it takes to burn out. A candle is used by beind "devoured" by a flame. When the candle is made thin, it burns quickly; when it is made fat, it takes a lot longer to burn. The wind can put out a candle, so the wind is the candle's foe.

A candle! As it burns, it melts or is "devoured" by the flame. When it's thin, like a birthday candle, it won't last for last and it's "quick" to stop. However, when it's thick, it takes a while for the candle to stop burning. Like so, wind can cause the candle to stop as well such as blowing it out.
