A trapezoid has an area of 80.75 sq. in., and its two bases are 7 and 12 inches long. Find the height of the trapezoid. a. 8.5 in. c. 8.75 in. b. 7 in. d. 9.2 in.

    The formula is area of trapezoid = average base x average height

    We're going to do this in reverse.

    Area = 80.75

    [ (7 + 12) / 2] = 9.5 (height)

    height = 80.75 / 9.5 = 8.5

    The height is 8.5, so the answer is D.
