If he spends 1/10 of his vacation budget on a car rental, then he has 9/10 of his vacation money to spend on the rest of the vacation

    9/10 (650) = 5850/10 = 585 on rest of vacation

or u can do it this way as well ...

    650 - 1/10 (650) =

    650 - 650/10 = 650 - 65 = 585 left to spend on his vacation

He spent $65 of his total $650 leaving him with $585.

    650/10=65

    650-65=585

    or (650/10) - 65=585

the / is the division symbol.
