If I have two different units of measurement and I multiply them which unit would I convert it to? For example: I want to find the area of a triangle (1/2 bxh) The height (h) is 55 cm. The base (b) is 1.8m 55x1.8 = 99. I've halved it (49.5) but don't know what unit to make it.

    You must pass both units to the same unit. That is, you can multiply either cm * cm to make it cm ^ 2 or m * m to make it m ^ 2, but cm * m just can't.

    In this case, you can pass the base 1.8 m to cm, knowing that 1 m equals 100 cm, therefore:

    1.8m * 100cm / 1m = 180cm

    now if you can calculate the area

    55 * 180/2 = 4950 cm ^ 2

    Or you can also pass the height in meters, with the same conversion above:

    55cm * 1m / 100cm = 0.55m

    replacing that:

    0.55 * 1.8 / 2 = 0.495 m ^ 2

    Although the number is different, the area is still the same, but in one case it is in cm ^ 2, which is a unit smaller than m ^ 2.
