    Remember

    you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

    get placeholder by itself

    make denomenators same

    -1/2t times 3/3=-3/6t

    1/3t times 2/2=2/6t

    now we have

    -3/6t=2/6t-14

    minus 2/6t from both sides

    -5/6t=-14

    times both sides by - 6

    5t=84

    divide both sides by 5

    t=16 and 4/5 or 16.8
