    17 + 9 + 12 + 10 = 48 total nuts ... out of those 48, 9 were cashews

    9/48 = x / 32 ... 9 cashews to 48 nuts = x cashews to 32 nuts

    cross multiply

    (48) (x) = (9) (32)

    48x = 288

    x = 288/48

    x = 6 ... so there is expected to be 6 cashews out of 32 nuts
