Your office is moving into a new space and you have to decide if you want electric heat or natural gas. you have determined that it will take about 4000 kwh per month to heat the space with electricity and currently your electric company charges $0.075 per kwh. the natural gas provider currently charges $1.85 per therm. the conversions you will need are:1 kwh = 3,413 btu; 100,000 btu = 1 therm.

    Electric : 4000 kwh per month ... at 0.075 per kwh = 4000 * 0.075 = 300 per month

    gas : 1 kwh = 3413 btu ... so 4000 kwh = 4000 * 3413 = 13,652,000 btu.

    100,000 btu = 1 therm ... so 13,652,000 btu = 13,652,000/100000 =

    136.52 therms ... at 1.85 per therm = 136.52 * 1.85 = 252.56

Gas would be the better deal ... because for electric, u r paying 300 per month and with gas, u r paying 252.56 per month
