A globe has a surface area of 2700 cm². Andrew wants to estimate the volume of the globe. To do the estimate, he approximates π using 3 in both the surface area and volume formulas for a sphere.

Using this method, what value does he get for the approximate volume of the globe?

    The surface area is given by:

    A = 4πr ^ 2

    Where,

    r: sphere radio

    Substituting values we have:

    2700 = 4 (3) r ^ 2

    Clearing r we have:

    r = root (2700/12)

    r = 15

    Then, the volume of the sphere is given by:

    V = (4/3) πr ^ 3

    Substituting values:

    V = (4/3) * (3) * (15) ^ 3

    V = 13500 cm ^ 3

    Answer:

    The approximate volume of the globe is:

    V = 13500 cm ^ 3
