Deductive reasoning arrives at a conclusion based on scientific research and logic. Inductive reasoning is making generalizations from many examples. To best understand these differences, give examples of each type of reasoning in your own life.

    Inductive

    1) Every time you eat peanuts, your throat sweels up and you can't breath. So, you are allergic to peanuts.

    2) All cats that you have observed purr. Therefore, every cat must purr.

    Deductive

    1) All dolphins are mammals, all mammals have kidneys; therefore all dolphins have kidneys

    2) In mathematics, If A = B and B = C, then A = C.
