    So you know that maple stations is 3 miles west and 5 miles north of town center and Henry takes the subway from town center to maple station. The route that he travels is the hypotenuse and you can use the pythagorean theorem to find the length of that line. The pythagorean theorem is a^2+b^2=c^2, where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse

    You would get 3^2+5^2=c^2

    9+25=c^2

    34=c^2

    The value of c is approximately 5.83
