The area of a rectangle is 14 ft^2, and the length of the rectangle is 3 ft less than twice the width. find the dimensions of the rectangle.

    14=A=Lw

    L=2w-3

    14 = (2w-3) w

    0=2w²-3w-14

    0 = (2w-7) (w+2)

    7/2=w or w=-3

    Measurements aren't negative

    w=7/2 ft

    L=2 (7/2) - 3

    L=7-3

    L=4 ft
