    Let x and y be the number of pounds of apple and peaches sold, respectively. With the given prices above, the system of linear equations that would enable us to answer this item is,

    x + y = 165

    1.75 + 2.5y = 337.50

    The values of x and y from the equations are 100 and 65, respectively.

    Answer: apples = 100 pieces

    peaches = 65 pieces
