    Expand

    y=3 (x^2-4x+4) - (x^2-10x+25)

    y=3x^2-12x+12-x^2+10x-25

    y=3x^2-x^2-12x+10x+12-25

    y=2x^2-2x-13

    complete the square

    y=2 (x^2-x) - 13

    y=2 (x^2-x+1/4-1/4) - 13

    y=2 ((x-1/2) ^2-1/4) - 13

    y=2 (x-1/2) ^2-1/2-13

    y=2 (y-0.5) ^2-13.5
