Peter walked for 2/5 mile to Fred's house and then 1/2 mile to the park. How can he write 2/5 and 1/2 as pair of fractions with common denominattor?

    2/5 and 1/2

    If you multyply 5 and 2 you will get 10 which is a common denominator of both numbers (5 and 2)

    Remember that if you do something to your denominator you must also do it to your numerators.

    So, 5 multiplied by 2 is 10 ... Put both denominators as 10

    ?/10 and?/10

    Now think ... What multiplied by 5 gave me 10? The answer is 2. So, you multiply 2 and 2 in order to give you 4.

    Now we have:

    4/10 and?/10

    Now you think ... What multiplied by 2 gave me 10? The answer is 5. So you do 1 multiplied by 5 which gives you 5.

    Now you have:

    4/10 and 5/10

    Thats the answer!
