    Let width=x

    length=3+x

    perimeter=26

    2 (l+b) = 26

    2 (3+x+x) = 26

    2 (3+2x) = 26

    6+4x=26

    4x=26-6

    x=20/4=5. l=3+5=8. width=5

    area of = l*b

    =8*5=40
