In equations, your aim is to make x the subject so then you can solve it but you also have to keep in mind that both sides have to be equal so for example, if you decided to minus 1 from 2x you would have to do that to 7 as well to keep the whole equation equal because if you only minus 1 from 2x then you get a whole new equation so,
→ 2x + 1 = 7
⇒ We want isolate 2x so we subtract 1 from both sides as a first step
→ 2x = 6
⇒ The second step would be to divide both sides by 2 to isolate x
→ x = 3
