You want to cut two ribbons into equal lengths with nothing left over. The ribbons are 18 and 42 inches long. What is the longest possible length of ribbon you can cut? Is it 30 inches long each?

    The answer would be 6 inches long. you would get 3, 6 inch ribbons out of the 18 inch and 7, 6 inch ribbons out of the 42 inch. The answer couldn't possibly be 30 inches because the one ribbon is only 18 inches long
